Last year hivefest took place in Amsterdam and I really had an amazing time and it was an awesome experience to get to know all the faces behind the profile pictures. After all decentralization starts with people. People from all over the world and from various backgrounds and a huge diversity of skills.
This is the real value in our chain and having the chance to talk with members who have been here for several years and some of them even visited all hivefests, virtual and real life.

A lot of factors
There are many things that I have to do until I can board a plane headed for Tijuana or San Diego
The ticket for a return flight is quite the sum even for my privileged European wallet. I know there are many who can't even dream of making it to Hivefest at all.
My Passport
First of all, I will need a new passport and I will need it fast. The first appointment I get in the ticket tool of the German embassy in Vienna is the 29th of November 2023. That is not acceptable so I will have to go to a citizens office in Germany.
My taxes
I got a nice little letter from my tax person that I will have to pay a five-figure amount in taxes. I am right about freeing up assets to get liquidity. This hurts the most but has to be paid in order for me to spend my money on plane tickets and accommodation.
I need those days off
My employer will not be very happy about me asking for free days. By that time I will have done a few weddings over the summer and have little to no days left that year.(I sometimes work as a wedding videographer) So I have to try to save up some extra time so I can get those two days I need. (I am working only on weekends as an employee leaving me with 10 days in total over the course of the year)
These are the biggest hurdles I have to take.
If everything works out I will be able to do everything in time. The passport should not be too big of a problem. The money, well that is being solved by my endless wise decisions I will make over the course of the next 100 days.
I will try to get more jobs in during the week when I have the time. If all works out well I can easily pay my tax bill with the extra days on set. (In fact, I just got 2 days of driving for a movie production)
I also will ramp up my blogging habits here on HIVE and try to publish more. This of course only works if I find a way to pay for my tickets and accommodation in HIVE, and is actually not my favorite way of paying for my expenses. I want to keep my HIVE on the chain.
I need a bit of luck to get there but I am very positive in making it happen.

Did you know that you can charter a plane holding 220 passengers + crew for only 14000E€ per hour? That would be about 640€ per person per flight if we manage to fill the airplane completely. Just a crazy idea but we actually could fly altogether. This price is an estimate and could be cheaper if we manage to strike a good deal.
There are smaller planes as well for 100 people but it would make the price of a single ticket more expensive although the hourly rate is less.
