THey have given the natives a deal where , in a way. they can't complain about it. There's no such thing as fair. there is only a price. for them to be happy and healthy with their lives. that means, they have to live together.
there are three things that happen when someone gets taken captive. first, there has to be a war. second, if they are of value, they will get an opportunity to fight. third, if not, they will be tortured to death or executed as punishment.
and this one was no different. a group of the men who had been captured by the invaders attacked the village of which they were supposed to be living in. the people were terrified by what the soldiers were going to do, but still did not dare to stop them. so many of them tried to hide. even those that weren't were quickly grabbed and taken away. the soldiers took what they wanted from the houses and the villages. they burned down everything that wasn't useful. some children were thrown into the burning buildings and the adults were forced to watch them die. they didn't even try to stop them. the soldiers had already shown what they thought about anyone that got in their way.
the survivors were gathered together and asked questions. who was going to take them? if they would be allowed to live? would they be able to work? If they couldn't do any of these things, then they'd be killed like pigs. all of them were told that they were going to die anyway and they might as well learn something from their fate. one day, one of the prisoners managed to free himself and ran away. he found his way back to the village of which they were currently being held. it was a small settlement and, as he made his way through the streets, he saw someone coming towards him with a spear. the prisoner ducked under the spear and made his escape. he ran until he came across some woods. hiding inside the trees he waited until he heard footsteps approach.
