Today I found myself wondering and pondering about the world. I haven’t been alive for very long and I haven’t travelled to many places but through technology and the internet the world has become a very small place. Anything that happens in one part of the world affects other parts as well. We have truly become a global village but things are not getting any better, as a matter of fact they are getting worse.
We’ve stopped caring about each other, about our world, about being human. We’ve found gods that prevent us from being human. Greed and power hungriness are two of the most powerful gods man worships. More is never enough. Until we own and rule everything enough will never be enough.
My wife and I had some business outside town. Because I still don’t have a car we are dependent on public and private transportation. Last week Saturday we were hiking for transport in a town called Vereeniging. At the hiking sport was a young family; a father;mother and their young baby. They were going to Sasolburg, a town 10 km away from where we were.
When a car stopped to pick people up I heard the young gentlemen pleading with the driver of the car that they had lost their money and only had enough for one person to pay. The young man pleaded with driver asking him to please reconsider giving them a lift as the driver had said no a few times.
He tried to appeal to his conscious asking him to think of his wife and baby.
Being the person I am I put myself in the driver’s shoes and asked myself what would I have done in the situation. I concluded, and my wife agreed with me, by saying I would have given them the lift without charging them. They were in serious need of help and not too many people seemed to care. They just wanted money and nothing else.
This is also an analogy of what is happening on a grand global scale.
