A few months ago, when we were in winter here in Venezuela, that is to say in the rainy season, I climbed a mountain I had never been to before. Apart from hiking, which is something I love, I wanted to see the city from there, but what struck me most was all the intense greenery around.
Hace unos meses, cuando est谩bamos en invierno aqu铆 en Venezuela, es decir en 茅poca de lluvias, sub铆 a una monta帽a que no conoc铆a. Aparte de hacer senderismo, que es algo que amo, quer铆a ver la ciudad desde all铆, pero lo que m谩s me impact贸 fue todo el intenso verdor que hab铆a alrededor.
The hike started very early, around 6:15 in the morning, it was not yet dawn and everything looked a little opaque.
La caminata comenz贸 muy temprano, como a las 6:15 de la ma帽ana, no hab铆a amanecido bien a煤n y todo luc铆a algo opaco.
But just a few minutes later the light changed, it seemed that someone had opened some windows and everything looked sharper.
Pero apenas unos minutos despu茅s la luz cambi贸, parec铆a que alguien hab铆a abierto unas ventanas y todo se ve铆a m谩s n铆tido.
There were a few clouds, but they were moving quickly, giving way to the sun.
Hab铆a unas cuantas nubes, pero iban movi茅ndose r谩pidamente, d谩ndole paso al sol.
As we progressed uphill, the green world became more present and I didn't want to miss the opportunity to take those images with me.
A medida que avanz谩bamos en la subida, el mundo verde se hac铆a m谩s presente y no quise perder la oportunidad de llevarme esas im谩genes conmigo.
Right now all these mountains are sepia-colored, with almost no vegetation and many of them suffering from the fires that occur every year in the summer months or drought (December to April).
Ahora mismo todas estas monta帽as est谩n de color sepia, con casi nada de vegetaci贸n y muchas de ellas padeciendo los incendios que cada a帽o se dan en los meses de verano o sequ铆a (de diciembre a abril).
Witnessing these changes makes you understand that everything in nature is cyclical and transforms.
Presenciar estos cambios te hace comprender que todo en la naturaleza es c铆clico y se transforma.
So we must value the present, what we have at any given moment, both rain and drought are necessary.
Entonces debemos valorar el presente, lo que hay en cada momento, tanto la lluvia como la sequ铆a son necesarias.
You see? Hiking is not only for exercising the body, the mind is strengthened when you find yourself among natural landscapes, you get many good thoughts in your head, with each route you end up a little wiser I think hehe.
驴Ven? El senderismo no es s贸lo para ejercitar el cuerpo, la mente se fortalece cuando te encuentras entre parajes naturales, te llegan muchas buenas reflexiones a la cabeza, con cada ruta terminas un poco m谩s sabio creo yo jeje.
But back to the greenery. As we were reaching the top of this mountain the views became more incredible, both towards the city and the hills.
Pero volvamos al verdor. Cuando est谩bamos llegando a la cima de esta monta帽a las vistas se volvieron m谩s incre铆bles, tanto hacia la ciudad como hacia los cerros.
I was impressed by that kind of grass everywhere, green handfuls that in many places were even aligned, they had symmetry, but they were not planted by humans.
Me impresion贸 esa especie de grama que hay por todas partes, pu帽ados verdes que en muchos lugares hasta estaban alineados, ten铆an simetr铆a, pero no fueron sembrados por los humanos.
Undoubtedly we owe a lot to birds, they are great cultivators of the land, when they leave their droppings around they also leave seeds that they have consumed and this is how much of the vegetation in wild areas arises.
Sin duda le debemos mucho a las aves, ellas son grandes cultivadoras de la tierra, al dejar sus heces por ah铆 dejan tambi茅n semillas que han consumido y as铆 surge gran parte de la vegetaci贸n en zonas silvestres.
We spent about half an hour on the summit and its surroundings, how different the air you breathe in the mountain! I leave you with a few more shots of this greenery, I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.
