Hello Guys ... How are you today ?

Having a curvaceous stature, standing too long or standing still like a statue is a process to go to the next change or process of asceticism.

(Manduca Sexta or Tobacco Horn Caterpillar)

Seeing its supple and cute body, this caterpillar called Daffodil Horn Caterpillar is one of the forerunners of winged insects that will later become beautiful moths. Experts say that he will later be known from the figure of the Sphingidae family which is now widely found on the American continent. While in other areas it is also seen but very little.

Although in our area we often see a figure like this, but this type is difficult to find, so it is rarely called by its original name. Sometimes people call it the Carolina Sphinx Moth. However, it is only recognized when it has changed from a cocoon and enters the adult phase (into an adult moth). Sometimes I myself am often fooled by its appearance when it becomes a caterpillar, which resides in every leaf of its parent's choice. The Tobacco Horn caterpillar, when it enters the full caterpillar phase, looks exactly like a fruit stuck to every branch

I myself often pay attention to his face, sometimes it looks like the face of a parrot, but I don't name it as an Elderly Faced Caterpillar, heheheh.... 馃槄

In fact, when I was a child, I often kept them as pets and often kept them as toys back then. This refers to his cute face, his face is very cute, like the face of a parrot who is very excited when he talks.

At that time, my little friends said that, one day he will speak after he has his wings. That's why children are very gullible. In fact, every morning they see they don't speak, they just keep silent as long as they are caterpillars 馃槄馃槄馃槄

This caterpillar has several explanations for it. Sometimes in other areas that are still in the same sub-district as me, it is said that the larvae of this species can be distinguished by several characters or can be distinguished by the markings on their bodies, for example.

1. The tomato horn caterpillar has eight white markings, infinite V-shaped
2. While the tobacco horn caterpillar has seven white diagonal lines with black edges
3. Tobacco horn caterpillar, has 7 yellow stripes shaped sideways, on each side of the side of the body
4. and, there is also a similar to him, has the same stature but a different face, but I don't know the real name.

That way, you yourself can find out that the tobacco horn caterpillar contained in point 3 above, because you can clearly see the character or pattern on its body as seen in the picture in this post.

I see wonders in his behavior, it is known that he is often visited by beetles or insects that live on the same plant, of course there are species of the Order of predators or other natures, but when every insect species is nearby, they always disappear quietly (nope hunt it) or carry out an attack. Meanwhile, this tobacco horn caterpillar did nothing else (including running away), although it could only surrender to the situation, especially before turning into a cocoon.

In our area, it is often said that it is a unique and beautiful caterpillar figure, in general people will look disgusted with every type of caterpillar, assuming they are very dirty and the origin of something bad. But not with this caterpillar, in fact it looks like one of the four-legged animals that are often kept, it looks like they have a head like a bird, feet like a cat or something, have a tail and so on.

People here only see the figure when it becomes a caterpillar completely, so this assumption was born. However, people here are very disgusted with other caterpillars even though they will eventually become beautiful butterflies.

As has been explained above about all characters in knowing them, so here it can be said that, to remember the types described above, it can be briefly explained as follows.

1. Tobacco horn caterpillars have straight white lines on their sides
2. Tomato horn caterpillars have V-shaped markings.

Visually, the tobacco horn caterpillar has a mechanism to bind and release the neurotoxin nicotine present in tobacco, or if it's difficult, see pictures the image that has been uploaded in this post.

So based on the behavior of those who often do something on each side of the tobacco plant itself, it becomes a reference for naming this one species figure.

Although he it is a moth that often cannot be distinguished between a butterfly and it by certain people, the mechanism or process of occurrence also has a process like the butterfly itself.

The process also occurs in several stages, namely :

  1. Egg-shaped
  2. Becomes a caterpillar as you can see in the posts
  3. The cocoon stage
  4. and so on, becomes a complete moth stage.

Koughly the illustration as you can see in the picture below.

Based on the incident and behavior that occurred from this figure, it becomes my concern that makes us always want to continue to observe it until it finds important things to it, of course it is also an amazing natural phenomenon even though it is a caterpillar. Hopefully your like it
