I have a suspicion that there is zero support from Steemit Inc. The exchanges must run a Steem node which cost money to operate. Poloniex may also want a maintenance fee that I expect Steemit Inc refuses to pay. The sad part is that if SMTs are available, the exchange will not have a node to support them since SMTs will use the STEEM blockchain.
