Welcome to the latest edition of the SoCal Steemit Visiting Hour post!

Every tuesday at 8pm @socalsteemit is doing a weekly voice and text chat for the members in our Discord server! Here we'll be giving a short summary of our previous chat and bring up potential topics for the next upcoming chat.

Last Nights Visiting Hour

In the last SoCal Visiting Hour we had @mariannewest, @mattlovell, @creationofcare, and myself (@derekrichardson) all join in the conversation!

We started off with @mariannewest telling us about her mealworms and @matlovell and @creationofcare telling us about their new rabbit. Then we had @steemseph come by and say hi, but he couldn't stay because he was busy also chatting with the @steemflagrewards group. And we talked a bit about them and what they do.

Then I talked about and shared some photos from my recent trip to meet @alaqrab for a backpacking trip in the Santa Lucia mountains overlooking the Big Sur coastline. We had a lot of fun!

Next we talked about how everyone is really busy this time of the year with all the holidays, so we're not trying to do a meetup this month. But we will get one planned in January for sure!

Then we continued the discussion about the rebranding of SoCal Steemit. Ultimately we have decided to leave it as is and remain @socalsteemit. At least for the foreseeable future. We also talked about the current revenues and discussed my financial support for the group. And even despite the brutal market right now we think we are looking pretty good!

@mattlovell reminded us about the CERT emergency and disaster training going on next month. Matt, @creationofcare, myself, and possibly @csusbgeochem1 are all planning to attend the training.

Next we talked a little about Steemworld.org. I was familiar with it and use it pretty regularly but there was still some features there that I was not aware of like the account creation feature!

Then we ended talking a bit about Steemit.com and everything going on there. We talked about the roll of Steemit.com and the possible effects of it's decisions on the Steem community.

The conversation was a lot of fun and we discussed a ton of stuff so I'm sure I'm leaving out a lot, but I think I at least touched on the main topics of the discussion.

Next Tuesday

In next Tuesdays SoCal Visiting Hour we'd like to talk about the posting schedule for the holidays as I'm planning to be completely offline during that time, ideas for Januarys meetup, and anything else any members would like to bring up and discuss! So again, it's tuesday at 8pm in the SoCal Steemit Discord server. If you are not equipped to voice chat or are a bit intimidated to get on a mic, feel free to come listen to the chat and communicate with the group through the corresponding text channel. We'd love to have everyone come join the conversation!!
