Welcome to the latest edition of the SoCal Steemit Visiting Hour post!

Every tuesday at 8pm @socalsteemit is doing a weekly voice and text chat for the members in our Discord server! Here we'll be giving a short summary of our previous chat and bring up potential topics for the next upcoming chat.

Last Nights Visiting Hour

In the last SoCal Visiting Hour we just had @mariannewest and myself (@derekrichardson) join in the conversation.

We talked about a whole bunch of stuff. I talked about my upcoming week long snowboarding trip to Mammoth mountain with my family. Marianne asked me a bit about my pottery/glass kilns here at my house. Although they haven't been used in years I'm pretty sure they all still work. And of course we talked about all this cold and rainy weather we've been having here in SoCal!

Then we discussed the recent craziness about the dpoll by @theycallmedan where @votovzla won a 10K delegation for one year! Congratulations to @votovzla!

Next I told Marianne about our recent SoCal Steemit meetup last saturday in Norco, CA. We had @csusbgeochem1, @beckymeep, @bxlphabet, @mattlovell, @thebigwhitevan, and myself all show up and we had a bunch of fun bowling! It was @thebigwhitevan's first meetup, so it was a lot of fun to get to meet a new Steemian! We chatted a bunch at the meetup. I told him about @steembasicincome and he told me about another project called @steem-ua. Marianne and I talked a bit about both these projects as well as another similar one called @incinboost.

Next we discussed the @socalsteemit finances a little. We've been getting our payouts in 100%SP and our SP has been growing rather nicely! But the lack of spendable Steem/SBD has left me personally covering most the expenses. So for now we are going to go back to a 50/50 payout and try to build up some usable funds.

We also talked about this tuesday Visiting Hour and how we wished more people were excited about coming to the voice chat. We questioned whether or not we should continue with it. Personally, I love chatting with you guys even if it's only one or two people each week. We thought maybe the time/date might not be good for people? But we're not sure so... if you'd like to chat, but 8pm on tuesdays isn't a good time please let us know and we will consider rescheduling it to better fit everyone's schedules. We also talked about the possibility of adding some type of a fun contest to the Visiting Hour where we could give away some SBI as an incentive for people to come chat. So lets put some thought into it and next week we can put that together!

Next Tuesday

In next Tuesdays SoCal Visiting Hour we'd like to talk about ideas to improve the Visiting Hour like possibly rescheduling it or running a contest for SBI. We'd also like to talk about next months meetup as I'd like to get it planned sooner rather than later. And of course we welcome anything else any members would like to bring up and discuss! So again, it's tuesday at 8pm in the SoCal Steemit Discord server. If you are not equipped to voice chat or are a bit intimidated to get on a mic, feel free to come listen to the chat and communicate with the group through the corresponding text channel. We'd love to have everyone come join the conversation!!
