You know me, I like to test sh*t out and the new roll out of Instagram has made me excited. Interestingly, Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom, has admitted that “Instagram Stories” is another version of Snapchat, a temporal digital platform. Thanks to Snapchat, using Instagram stories has been an easy transition. Temporal video broadcasting is my thang.
If you’re good on Snapchat, you’d be great on Instagram.
Oh, hang on, good creators would stand out regardless what platform you’re on. If anything, this is validation for the direction of communication — temporal video is here to stay.
A 24 hour limit: meaning that content would disappear. This is a different form of medium as this would encourage both consumers and creators to keep using the platform. It has become stickier and it encourages people to watch stories from the start to the beginning. Snapchat is 10 seconds long whereas Instagram Stories lasts for 15 seconds.
Snapchat makes me look smarter, prettier (the face lens are so good) and cooler . Seriously, it’s best to be app agnostic. When time is a valued asset, you’re better off, redistributing content in different channels, I’ve found that people prefer that you’re being genuine and authentic to the stories you tell.If you look at the bigger picture of messaging or video apps, I still think WeChat is ahead of the broadcasting game. Perhaps Facebook is heading that direction, it’s obvious that they have bigger plans for Messaging app too. And after my Meerkat experience, I invested 6months into the video app platform and collected 40k+ followers, but didn’t transition my followers on different social accounts…. Let’s just say, it’s best to not lay your egg in one basket.
If not, why aren’t you using the channels to brand yourself and reach out to the Millennials.
