When i saw a picture of the White sands national monument several years ago, I was pretty amazed and decided I need to go there. Two year later after I moved to Colorado, my friends took the road trip to New Mexico. It was a 2000 mile trip, tired as hell but totally worth it.
We stopped in Albuquerque the first night. We found an artistic place on airbnb. We love the industrial style of decoration and the hostess was really nice. She checked on us the next morning to see if we needed anything and gave up some great tips about the white sands national monument.
We continued to drive south the next morning. Right before arriving the monument, we were stopped at a border inspect station and were asked for visa documents. (So if you are in the US with a visa, bring your passport and all of your visa documents!) Not long after the inspection we saw the entrance of the monument. Remember to grab a map before going in. There are several trails you can choose from. And put on a lot of sunscreen and wear your sunglasses as it was really hot inside the monument. The view is indescribable amazing and a perfect place for good photos!
