This is a song I recorded a while ago.

It's a song about a time when I was fifteen. My best friend, at the time, had run away from home and was living down in the City.

She had a hard life. Looking back with older eyes she also made a lot of her own problems larger. I think this is something we all tend to do when younger. Some people learn from those mistakes, some keep making the same mistakes until something happens in their lives that make them realize it's time to start taking care of yourself. Some never learn.

My parents had gone away for the weekend and I had not seen my friend in a long time. I arranged to get a ride down to see her and spend the night.

The weekend was one I will never forget no matter how old I get. I had the most fun and visited a world that some only ever hear about.

Looking back on that weekend as an adult, even with the times being what they were back then, things could have gone very wrong but they didn't. I had a great time, learned a ton of life lessons that to this day I never forget, and made it home safe and sound with my parents none the wiser.

Yes, I was very lucky but thinking back to it all, if that weekend would not have happened I think my life would have turned out very differently. Would my life had been better? I'm going to have to say no, but you never know, do you.

It was a weekend that I came to a crossroads and turned right and not left. Through the years I would come across many other crossroads of a similar kind and because of what I learned that weekend I always chose the right path.

Do I regret it now that I'm older? No. The left path would have been fun for a while but in the end, it's an empty path. I was very lucky to learn that very early in life.

I learned that sometimes you have to make it through the borning, mundane things in life, to get to the part where you finally have the money and age to have control of your own life. Once you have that, then you can have all the fun you want but still have a place to live, food to eat and most days happiness that you gave yourself.

I don't think you can stop the part where you have to work for what you want. There is not an easy way to achieve that. There are easier ways but not easy ways.

My best friend, years later, beaten down in body and soul, came back to her hometown and lives there to this day. The last time I saw her we had become very, very different people so after spending another weekend together we have not seen each other since.

From time to time I do think about her and hope she is finally happy but she had been chasing happiness for so long I don't know if she ever learned to look around her and find it in herself, where it always was. I hope so, but she was always a restless soul.

The funniest thing about all that happened that weekend is I can say, in all honesty, that Reese's Peanut Butter Cups really did change my life. LOL

I hope you enjoy the song. It's a happy song and it makes me smile when I listen to it.

It was time to share it.

Love,

Snook
