Hello everyone 馃憢

We all live in different parts of the world, surrounded by diverse cultures, customs and daily habits. Although these differences are often taken for granted, they sometimes surprise us when we least expect them.

This is my first #wednesdaywalk post, and I can say that this outing has opened my eyes in a way that I haven't experienced before. I walk the streets of my city that I have known all my life, but today I look at them differently. I began to notice details that I had unknowingly ignored until yesterday, perhaps because they had become part of the routine, invisible in the daily chaos.

One thing in particular caught my eye: pickaxes. Small traces of carelessness, thrown everywhere on the asphalt. Most often I find them around benches, those same places where people stop for a moment to take a break, breathe in the air... and light a cigarette. And then, without thinking, they throw the cigarette at their feet and continue on.

I can understand, there aren't many trash cans in our town, especially not near those vacation spots. And I believe that most do not throw out of bad intentions, but because there is simply no better option. But maybe all that could change with just one small step, to put more bins in strategic places. Like in the middle states, the bins also have garbage bags for dog poop, and that's one of the problems in my town. Maybe then someone would stop, look around and decide to preserve what connects us all, our common space, our streets, our city.

This walk reminded me that change begins just like this, with small observations and quiet thoughts that we choose to share.
