For today, a photo of a tree in our garden called a Kigelia africana. The dark red flowers are very fragrant at dusk, and I've read that it very likely attract bats, birds, moths and other insects like carpenter bees. I took the photo with my Canon 700D and kit lens. It's difficult to get good shots of these flowers, as they are high up and not really facing downwards.
The fruit can grow up to 2 feet long, and can weigh as much as 15 pounds. It is called a "sausage tree" because of the shape of the fruit.
One is warned not to park one's car under this tree, as the falling fruit can damage it.
Enjoy the rest of your Christmas day.
