There are two options of how they work… First is people like me can rent the extra drive space on my computer for others to use. Since my computer is mining so it is running 24/7 I set up a small part of the existing hard drive to share. In time I will get compensated in Storj (SJCX) for the space that has been used. Been running the beta test less than 1 week, and as of the time of this writing I am still waiting to get paid, will update when I do.
