As kids, we have dreams and aspirations. There were things we saw back then that prompted us to wish we were grown ups already.
We saw certain things that adults were doing and wished we were old enough to do them too.
Growth seems to be slow to us because we were eager to want to try stuffs our parents and elders would not have allowed us to try because we were limited by our age.
For many kids, this has been their supposed problem. I watched a movie recently where a kid saw his elder brother and his girlfriend in a romantic way and quickly said 'i can't wait to be an adult'!!!
For others, it might be the feeling to visit club, party all night, stay outside longer than usual or any other thing you could think of.
Truth is, we never really understood the freedom or privileges attached to being kids. We never thought of it that virtually everything was done for us.
As kids, you hardly wash your own cloths. There are elders ready to do this for you. You were hardly given any job to do at all. Your normal chores were probably sweeping and washing of plates.
As kids, you have the liberty to sit, cross your legs and wait for food to be served. You just shout 'mom i'm hungry' and your food would be given to you in no time.
As kids, you have pocket money whenever you go to school. This is in addition to your lunch box.
Your school uniform and everything you wore were probably washed by mom. Once you got back, she sometimes off them for you and immediately you had your shower, food was already served.
These are luxuries that adults don't have. They have bigger worries that occupy their minds and reduce their productivity.
As adults, we worry about feeding our mouths, buying of cloths, shoes, bags and many material stuffs. We worry about paying house rent, buying car, having our own houses, starting business, how to get loan/pay loan, etc.
These are things that kids know nothing about. They just sit before TV and enjoy themselves while adults hide sorrow and deep thoughts behind their smile.
Being a kid is a luxury that we all once had but taken away from us with growth. No one can stop himself from growing so adulthood is something we all embraced.
While we envied the adults as kids, they envy us more because we had nothing to worry about. We ate free food, slept in free houses, wore free cloths, we didn't pay school fees and many other.
Like the kid i watched in a movie, an adult who was confronted with life and the bills before him wished he could return back to being a child!
It is truly amazing how human beings function. But no matter how you try to dodge it, growth and responsibilities are inevitable realities.
So brace up and embrace the fact about life. You enjoyed as kids because some people suffered to give those things to you, so you need to do the same for young ones. Life works in such circle.
