There was a time Africans were slaves to the White. We were caught unaware with their sophisticated machines and advance civilization.
While we were still in our primitive age, the White have gone far ahead to a more advanced stage in their development.
This makes them more expose to the entire world and gave them the knowledge about the importance of many stones Africans were killed and traded for.
The impact of this experience on our history is very huge. Huge that you can't talk about our history without referencing the slave trade era.
While slave trade stopped and Africans were given independent, the White left but their ideas never did.
They somehow make their mark here and ensure that no matter how Black we may appear to be, we would still reason like them
This is easy to discover without necessarily arguing out of context.
The writings are on the wall for all to see. We cherish anything western compared to our own.
Many African made products are rejected for Western products. We look at our own products as inferior specs.
We forget that the more we buy and patronise our own products, the more it grows and sophisticated.
People produce based on available resources. For them to do more, they need more resources which they can get if only we patronise them to encourage them to do so.
Today, many foreign made products flood every African market. They in fact, see our countries as dumping ground.
Funny enough, it is Africans that use expensive gadgets. Once they produce them, they move them to Africa.
Today, you see many of us with expensive phones and cars. Everyone wants to follow the trend and use what the stars of the world are using.
As a country (Nigeria), we have Innoson Motors but we don't patronise them. We would rather go for a foreign made because we are only Black on our skins.
We are bit backward technologically but it doesn't mean we don't have technology.
We have many good tech here and drones are mande in Nigeria in case you don't know. But my people prefer to buy from the foreign countries.
What we don't know is if the White didn't patronise their own, we would not have seen and loved them.
They were able to make more money from indigenous sales before mass producing for the world and especially Africa to see and use.
Imagine we support our own manufacturers by patronising them, we would have been in a better position today.
Africans need to stop wearing this Black skin while they reason or think differently. There is a need to look inward, go local and support local manufacturers so that they can compete with the world.
