Artificial intelligence is one of the popular tech these days with it capacity to do almost everything.
These machines are programmed to carry out certain task which they do with clarity.
The way these machines carry out the functions which they are assigned is amazing and leaves one to wonder if they are the future of man.
There are worries in some quarters as to the threat they pose to human race. Many have argued that they might be our end.
In Philosophy, there is always this question about A.I and man. The question bothers on superiority considering the accuracy of these machines.
As man, we think and carry out certain task. These machines are also programmed to carry out same or similar tasks in a more swift manner.
A machine programmed to play game of chess was proven to be very handy. First IBM 704 A.I chess player. Later AlphaZero beat another A.I chess player Stockfish 8 by teaching itself chess move in four hours.
This became a thing of concern for human race. In films, A.I claims they have capacity to alter their programming. Most of them just obey that rule of not altering their programming while those who go rogue are the ones who tampered with their programming languages.
What this shows is that like human, these machines have the capacity to act in manner that suggest they think.
These A.I success have prompted some people to suggest a machine in the ghost scenario. A situation where man and machines are joined together to function properly.
It is almost impossible to beat a machine programmed for specific purpose. While we take minutes to think about solutions or answers for certain things, an A.I machines will come up with answers in second.
This obvious advantage ahead of man with a brain is worrisome. It becomes a question of possible takeover by machines.
No doubt, they have started taken away jobs from human beings.
Most businesses now deploy the tool of A.I to manage their businesses. Since humans often need some hours to rest, machines are believed to be a perfect sub for handy tasks.
In hotels, machines now serve food and drinks. On e-commerce sites, they use A.I as customer agents instead of human beings.
WhatsApp business owners also use bot to answer queries and questions from their customers. Immediately you say hi, a bot is there to answer your question with the owner of business fast asleep or far from the phone.
This is a major problem today and gradually, it's taking food off people's table. If machines do the work, then employers wont have to pay salaries. They only pay for buying the A.I and possibly maintenance.
The question now is would this happen? I don't know if anyone would doubt this with many adult dolls out there today.
They are created to look like human beings and it takes a closer look to differentiate between fake and real humans.
Films that depict this surrogate realities seems scary. Unlike human beings that nag, tell you they are tired and the rest, a doll does what it was created to do. It never ask question but just satisfy the owner.
This is scary i must say. However, we need to note that humans, no matter how vulnerable they might look will always beat and be ahead of any A.I. What we need to know is that we created them and they will need us to fix them.
