Another startup from the young Polish company Robot Manufacture, specializing in new technologies for people with disabilities. The company represents Blindtouch, the world's first working prototype of a camera for the blind.
The device is easy to use and allows you to take a picture, and then "see" it with a touch of your fingers. The kit consists of two completely mobile devices: a camera and a base station, on which images are represented using a three-dimensional matrix of retractable pins. Blindtouch also allows you to display text written in Braille.
Robot Manufacture believes that Blindtouch can help blind people. At the next stage of development, it is also planned to create an Internet portal for the blind, where users of Blindtouch will be able to publish their photos and share them.
The initiator of the project, Pyotr Kibulsky, believes that in an era of dynamically developing technologies, manufacturers should more often develop mobile devices for people with disabilities. Today, technology must serve those who need it.
According to Kibulsky, Blindtouch not only serves blind people in everyday life, but also helps them to experience the beauty of art and architecture. "I allow a blind person to photograph the Eiffel Tower himself and at the same time" see "its construction by touching the pin matrix. We want the blind to feel the beauty of the surrounding world here and now. "
Currently, Blindtouch is at the prototype stage. The final product Robot Manufacture will be able to prepare for production after the crowdscape campaign, which should begin in the near future. Thanks to this, the company will try to collect the necessary funds to finalize the final version of the device.
