All available DAO budget is being used (#166 isn't even getting its full request because the DAO budget is exhausted). The only way to increase funding (and even then, by a relatively modest amount) would be cutting off other funded proposals. There is a plausible economic argument for this, despite the obvious disruption, but there hasn't been wide stakeholder support for doing so and I'm not sure if I would support it.
There are three other approaches:
- Available DAO budget constantly increases from three sources: a) regular funding from inflation, b) over-time conversion of the ninja fund, and c) profits returned by the stabilizer. Since the stabilizer currently has excess approved funding that exceeds budget and has one proposal (#166) that sits right above the return proposal, as the budget increases, funding to the stabilizer automatically increases. When the most recent stabilizer proposal was approved, there wasn't even 400 HBD/hour available, now it is almost 450 HBD/hour.
- Vote for the
@hbd.funder posts and comments to use some of the (larger) reward fund for HBD stabilization (also acts as a donation to the DAO, increasing funding and budget). Similarly we can encourage other posters to send part of their rewards to
@hbdstabilizer as a beneficiary. Had you done this, I would have voted for your post .
@blocktrades proposed an on-demand HIVE-to-HBD conversion mechanism for the next hard fork. Obviously that will have to wait for development, inclusion into a release and then activation of a hard fork.
IMO the current funding of >10000 HBD/day is very significant (relative to the circulating supply of HBD) and is helping to stabilize and restrain the price of HBD even if it isn't quite enough to keep the price stable at $1. We aren't seeing a huge pump to $10 or higher as we have before, and as SBD has seen. It is also channeling 15000 USD per day of buying pressure into HIVE and removing that amount of circulating HIVE from the market. So it is well worth doing and has large benefits even if not quite fully effective (yet?).
