RE: Is The HBD Stabilizer Frontrunning Everyone Else For HIVE to HBD Conversions?
It's manipulating the price of HIVE that is the bigger issue. Temporarily pushing up the price of HIVE means you pay less HIVE for the HBD. Also profiting from natural fluctuation since the collateral

People using HBD to trade both on and off the chain is great. Either way it is using the product as intended.

RE: Is The HBD Stabilizer Frontrunning Everyone Else For HIVE to HBD Conversions?
It's only deflationary when there is high demand for HBD, which there was in 2021, but so far we haven't seen a lot of demand in 2022, despite offering a very attractive APR, and also despite a third party

Well, anyone can do the same thing, but they have to be donating to DHF. Most people aren't willing to donate to DHF just to get a small profit on HBD, but stabilizer is!

They're just very different assets is my point here. Under different conditions each may have advantages.

Also payouts from DHF, including via HBD stabilizer. DHF has 16 million which can go into circulation reasonably quickly if conditions call for it.

Paradoxically, Tether which is truly sketchy as all fuck esp in terms of "backing", might be more secure against some regulatory risk by moving around and hiding off in some obscure financial

In the original Steem roadmap there was a plan to implement confidential transactions (hides amount, not really that private but a step in the direction). Of course never implemented. These days it would

RE: Can Blocktrades Help With HBD Supply To Retailers
Someone needs to be ready to rebalance the pool after one or more transactions pushes it away from $1 due to slippage. This can be done while making a profit so arb traders should do it. I don't know if

RE: Can Blocktrades Help With HBD Supply To Retailers
According to coingecko you can do >$5000 instant swap on the polycub pool w/2% slippage or less, which is about the same as credit card fees. So this should be good enough for retail merchants in most

RE: USDC To Become The Number One Stablecoin In 2022?
Probably mostly bitcoin, tbh, perhaps with a bit of hedging, and effectively bitfinex fee revenue too. It was a leveraged bet on crypto that paid off huge. It crypto collapsed their business wouldn't be

Tether was more closely associated with bitfinex than bitmex, but maybe has some affilation with bitmex too (not sure).

Tether has had periods of declining supply. It doesn't necessarily mean people cash out. Tether itself can buy back its tokens from exchanges.

Edited: doesn't appear to be active You can already do exactly that with the @likwid service. Of course it is not built into the chain (and doesn't increase HBD supply) but from the end user perspective,

RE: Hive Backed Dollar (HBD) outlasts another stablecoin
We don't have flash loans but even if we did there are so many ways this attack would not work on Hive. For example, DHF only pays out a maximum of 1% per day, and only 1/24 of that in a single payment.

I like how you put this. It is important that many keep adding. Even the 1% on the stabilizer equates roughly to two weeks return when placed in savings. Ultimately it is up to the investor to decide if

Witnesses don't even receive HBD (unlike regular payouts). All witness rewards are HP. To get HBD, witnesses would have to buy it like anyone else.
