Introduction-
I've been a music buff ever since I was born. My mom and dad joke about how I would be dancing to the grooves of good music even in my sleep. As a kid, I had the lyrics of all my favourite songs at the tip of my tongue. In short, I was a huge music lover.
In one morning of 2016, I woke up, sleepy eyed, and opened the newspaper while sipping a cup of coffee. The front page had a huge logo of Coldplay and it said that the band was visiting India for the first time ever. I was thrilled. I had been a big fan of Coldplay and I loved their music and like every other teenager, I had a huge crush on Guy Berryman. I was determined to see them.
I went to convince my parents to let me go, persuade my friends to go with me, and then looked up the website to purchase tickets. To my dismay, the tickets on their official website was sold out, but it was available from third party websites as a resale. A lot of people bought their tickets from there, thus I assumed it would be a safe option for us too. We had to pay a fortune for those tickets, as the price of resale is quite higher than the original price.
On the day of the event, we were really excited. We reached the venue. It was filled with people who had been waiting for this day to come. For me, it was a dream come true. We reached the ticket counter and handed out our tickets. The collector rejected three of them, because one of them was a fake, and two had been sold to around ten people, and the first ones to get here, got the entry. That left just me, with a ticket that could validate an entry. It was heartbreaking.
My friends were nice enough to let me go and enjoy the concert. As much as I loved it, I couldn't relish it at the fullest due to the absence of my friends. After the concert ended, my friends told me that there had been a lot of people who had to return home because of similar issues to ours. One of them said that it is not a new thing, and such incidents happen in all events, from sporting events to concerts and music festivals.
Ticket Resale Industry-
Ticket resale is a huge industry as it generates a lot of money. A lot of people are enthusiastic for events and tickets are less in number for most such events. Thus, professional ticket resellers buy a lot of tickets, wait till the last day and sell the tickets at hefty prices. The average ticket resale is at least 20% higher than the original price of the ticket, owing to hidden transaction costs and bank fees. Furthermore, a significant number of resale tickets are sold to multiple people to generate more profits while people get duped. Some sell counterfeit tickets and then disappear. There are no efforts to reprimand such issues by ticket resale websites.
Amicorum-
Seeing these problems, Amicorum.live, a decentralized platform integrated with blockchain technology, smart contracts and Secure Identity Platforms (SIP) tries to provide people with a platform that makes available ticket resales after eliminating the regular issues of the industry. The blockchain ensures transparency and nullifies the chance of fake tickets with SIP. Smart contracts ensure the duplication of tickets is avoided and the cost is reduced due to the absence of transaction fees. There is even a reward program for people who provide for original ticket resale. The AMI Token is the internal cryptocurrency of the ecosystem and all the payments are made via the tokens.
Conclusion-
Amicorum is a Latin word which means 'gathering of friends', and the platform makes this comes true in all senses. It is a secure ecosystem that provides fans a chance to see their favorite idols in real life. With a creative idea and competent team, it will surely see success.
