Bad. Police are the enforcement arm of politicians with zero accountability to the people. A Sheriff is most likely the only law enforcement the original lads envisioned and they are elected by the people, at least in the US.

I compiled a list of "police" once, it was quite ugly. Why are there University, Capitol, ect, ect police. There are over 10,000 fed, state, local city, ect. ect police in operations.

This stemmed from an encounter I had with the "Postal Police". 25+ years ago I had mail sent to a company address that was at a Mailboxes ect, when I went to pick up the mail there was a slip of paper in the box that said the mail box could not receive mail that was not addressed to the mail box owner. The letter I was expecting was addressed to my name.

Being quite pissed as I needed the mail and I was the one that set up the company mail box, (in the company name) I noticed an 800 number on the slip of paper. I promptly called the number thinking I could come to some understanding as to the USPS as the only business noted in the constitution fucked up delivering a letter, it's only job!

Some nice man answered the phone and immediately ask me to hold but he did not put me on "hold" and the background noise sounded like a boiler room. There were several people talking and the lad who answered was talking to someone on a "police radio". At this point I need to understand what the problem is and how its going to get resolved, listening to this prick talk on a squelching radio was not improving my attitude.

At some point during his conversation he gave the guy on the radio a phone number he noted as a cell phone which I promptly wrote down. Alas he reengaged me on the phone where I explained my dilemma. He was not impressed and told me he was the P-O-S-T-A-L P-O-L-I-C-E and ask where I got the number.

Now I'm in full combat mode and this prick is about to get a full throated verbal attach where I explained that he did not have a father and should not put a number on a piece of paper if he did not want anyone calling it. Without hesitation he followed up with an equal level of verbal threats including putting me in a cage and he would not be solving my problem. At this point a recited the number he had given out earlier asking if they could help solve my problem.... At this point he cooled a bit explaining I would be interfering with an undercover detective and an ongoing investigating.

I called that number 3 times a week from pay phones at Circle K marts in the LA area for at least 9 months.

Now that I reflect on it, N.W.A could quite possibly be more caring and respectful of the police than myself.

ps Yes I did just listen to that song.
