Yes you should power up. If you look at my wallet you will see I do the same. You have just started and have a small account. Without powering up you will have limited voting and posting power ect.

I am far from an expert and initially came to steem for an investment (that has not went well so far) and minimal censorship.

Keep posting and learning, who knows you may make those few bucks after all.
