I recently got my drawing tablet and I want to start practicing right away to get used to it faster. Since I'm playing Splinterlands on the side, I thought it would be better to try and use it as my reference as well.
I want something easy to draw and not too detailed as I'm still practicing with my XP Pen Deco. For this one, I found Lily Shieldpaw very interesting. I needed to draw three characters but all of them are fairly easy so I chose them instead.
This is not going to be a 1:1 copy of Lily Shieldpaw as I want to put my own twist on it but I do want to be fairly faithful to the original.
First, we'll draw the guides to use and a rough draft of the feel of the characters.
Starting with the easiest one, let's do the colors on Yumbo. I also set the background color to green temporarily so I could see the white parts of our fluffy friend.
This was actually a hard one and I thought Onegin was a dog of some kind at the start so I made him a wolf. I did the art before reading the lore so now, the Snow Leopard became a wolf. He still fits the design though, fortunately. I kept it loyal to the material and kept the color and the face markings as well. I did add a few more than needed though.
Last one is the main character, Lily Shieldpaw. She was the hardest to do because her color, by the looks of it, are mostly gradients. I don't know how to do it yet so I just stuck with an old-school highlights and shadows. She looked like a racoon though because of the tail. I didn't know Lily is a red panda until I read the lore.
We need to have a decent background. I made a forest background for our three friends. I made a simple one because I want the three to stand out as my first attempt and will make a slightly better background the next time.
