Got the images sorted in the end: the three documents are embedded now instead of linked. And I was wrong about the cause. What doesn't render is the Ecency gallery, images.hive.blog returns 403 on anything from i.ecency.com. My own server works fine despite the bad cert, because the proxy fetches over HTTP and re-serves over HTTPS itself, so the reader's browser never touches my domain. The SSL thing was never the problem here.

A hive image server link would be the clean answer, but I'm not posting by hand: it goes out from WordPress through a plugin I wrote myself. Uploading there would mean signing the upload request from inside the plugin. Doable, just not built yet.

On cadence, I'm planning to post more often from here. It won't be daily, they take a while to research, but a good deal more than I have been.
