2024 has been a year full of great movies but Biopics had a hard time, Sight (2023) is a biographical drama that tells the inspiring story of Dr. Ming Wang, a Chinese men who immigrate at a young age and achieved success as an ophthalmic surgeon despite adversities, everywhere around the world immigrants some times are not giving the same opportunities and flexibility to success on their field and Dr. Wang career was full of obstacles back then but through his determination and perseverance overcame the obstacles of his turbulent upbringing to become an internationally renowned ophthalmic surgeon inspired by his own past, Dr. Wang sets out to restore the sight of a blind orphan, which serves as the central narrative of the movie, highlighting the strength and determination not only of Chinese American immigrants but over all as the old saying "If there is a will, there is a way".

Dr. Wang certainly deserves a place under the spotlight of human achievements due to the fact that his career path is a perfect example going the extra mile. The origin of Ming Wang is in a small village in China in the 1970s when he was pursued and accused of going against the system everywhere he went, he went through a lot of struggles, yet his family supported him to attend Harvard and MIT, and he earned two master degrees in laser physics. After that, Dr. Wang continued his education at Harvard Medial school and earned the highest grade, before he finally acquired his PHD of medical physics and became one of the few laser eye surgeons today who have mastered laser physics.
The work Dr. Wang would have done in the ophthalmology area is determinant, he is the co founder of common conglomerate network, a non profit organization and had been a key contributor in amniotic membrane contact lens invention which millions of doctors around the word, have helped more than 30 millions of people with eye problems, Dr. Wang along with the Wang Foundation for Sight Restoration have done 55 surgeries pro bono on patients all over the US from 40 states and additional 55 countries.
The movie Sight puts the story of Dr. Wang beginning from his childhood when he was oppressed by the communist regime in China through his path to become one of the best eye surgeons in American and the inventor who create a new procedure that helps restores sight of millions of people including the 3D Forever Young Lens surgery, which reduces the need for reading glasses. The message shown in the movie motivate the viewers to believe in more than what we see and that the present is founded on the past, it focuses on the acceptance of the previous times to be able to tolerate the present and not to be constrained by the reality.
As of now, Dr. Ming Wang continues to practice as a laser eye surgeon, using his expertise to help restore sight to those in need, this story is a powerful reminder of the resilience of the human spirit and the impact one person can have on the world.
Probably not everyone favorite genre of movie but truly a story that will get to you, after watching the trailer I can tell Dr. Wang is a funny person, how he joke around with Terry Chen who is a great actor, I remember him from many productions TV and the big screen, as usual Biopics are a hard one to pull off due to time constriction and facts or certain situations that are left or slightly change to make it fit a movie, remember movies are suppose to be entertaining at the same time a business so things are change to fit the targeted audience, I might watch it with the family since it does have a great message in it specially if you have kids this might inspire them at a young age to overcome adversities.
