The woodpecker spoke to me
about the sights around
there is hate and violence
many creatures bound
We spoke for awhile
communication is the key
learning about each other
what is important to the bird and me
More alike than different
each with a family
exchanging ideas
give and take willingly
God gives us free will
choices each day to make
kindness and love
understanding to awake
Working together
to make the world a better place
overcoming fear and judgement
with God's grace
Standing together
we shall overcome
living together is possible
from the old to the young
Praying today
for all in harm's way
we are one in spirit
on this new day
