Here is a desert spiny lizard commonly called swifts with a latin name of Sceloporus. There are quite a variety of colorations in the Sceloporus family. I suspect this one might be Sceloporus jarrovii.
The males have quite an array of different colors mainly on their bellies and throat.
The females have no color on their belly or throat but some do have colorful scales on their back.
There are a few different species of swift lizards. I suspect this one is an emerald swift because it has a lot of green scales with a bit of copper.
This one looks more copper I'm sure it belongs to some other subspecies. I got most of these photos in Tucson Arizona at a park. They were all over the place fighting with each other over territory.
Here is a female off in the distance observing the males fighting for breeding rights. It's a tough mini dinosaur world out here.
I believe this is a Gila Spotted Whiptail. These guys are super fast almost impossible to catch unless you manage to corner them.
I think this one is a Chihuahuan Spotted Whiptail another fast one but much larger than the Gila Spotted Whiptail. When I was a kid I used to throw grasshoppers in their general direction and they would run to eat them.
I think this might be a type of fence lizard. It is in the process of doing a pushup to make itself look bigger to scare me away. These ones are easy to catch as they are kind of aggressive and will try and bite you.
Here is a different species of fence lizard not flinching at me being in its territory.
I was able to catch one finally. They are very tame and if you put your hand near their face they will try and bite you.
Here is a tree lizard of some kind. They are another one that is easy to catch and have a mean personality.
Because these tree lizards are so mean you can easily make them bite your earlobe and wear them as earrings. They will hang there for a good minute or so. They still think they are giant dinosaurs.
Here is a male ornate tree lizard. He is defending his territory by doing pushups and flaring his colorful neck and belly. If you do a pushup back at them they will get angry and start doing more pushups.
If you sit in the desert and look at any tree long enough you will see these guys running around all over it fighting with each other over territory. They are pretty entertaining and if you are fast enough to catch two of them you can wear them as earrings lol. I would only advise wearing these smaller tree lizards as earrings as the larger spiny lizards will also bite and leave a triangle mark on your earlobe. I made this mistake once as a kid. I had to lay on the ground to get the lizard to finally let go of my earlobe and run away lol.
