Here is a trip I took to the Chicago Botanic Garden Lightscape.
The whole place was sold out and swarmed. The exterior entrance was encouraging though. I usually go here all year around during the most quiet times to enjoy the garden in peace. I suspect this is their most packed event of the year.
Once we got past the entry crowds everything was laid out in a nice pathway to different lightshow setups.
Lighting up the leafless trees makes quite an interesting pattern. In red this almost reminds me of an anotomic vein system.
They called this area the cathedral.
Once inside the cathedral tunnel it felt like it wasn't even dark out.
Each area you pass through has its own music and some kind of light movement and color change.
From a distance I thought this flower area might have been mushroom related. But that is just my bias, they are actually flowers lol.
These flowers changed into all sorts of different colors.

Many of the tree areas acted as transitions between the main areas. The light/shadow play is quite interesting on the branches. If I were designing this thing I would be using projectors to try and texture map them with movement.
The next main area was a large tree that seemed like it was rotating just because of the color.

Gobo lights were used in the large pathway areas. People were taking the opportunity to lay on the ground and get snowflakes projected on themselves lol. I'll post another part of the Lightscape as there are many more areas.
To end this post without it becoming too long here is a shot of the Home Alone house. This is located only a few miles from the Chicago Botanic Gardens and its easy to walk by for photos. Now I'll have to rewatch that movie for the 100th time after seeing the house in real life lol.
