🇫🇷 Un brin de nostalgie m'envoie aujourd'hui vers le sud Tunisien. Un pays où j'ai grandi durant les années de la petite enfance et que j'ai retrouvé une fois adulte pour quelques années d'activité professionnelle et pour des escales à bord de mes voiliers. Au programme de cet article, un retour photographique sur les troglodytes de Matmata, le fort et les environs de Ksar Ghilane et Le Ksour Chenini. Un joli voyage dans la sècheresse, la chaleur et l'histoire de la Tunisie.

In the program of this article, a photographic return on the troglodytes of Matmata, the fort and the surroundings of Ksar Ghilane and Le Ksour Chenini. 🇫🇷 Le voyage commence après plusieurs heures de route pour traverser le pays du nord au sud. Les paysages se succèdent, Les champs de construction laissent la place aux champs d'orangers, puis aux champs d'oliviers, et puis tout doucement les grandes étendues arides et désertiques se dévoilent. Les troglodytes sont très présents dans le sud Tunisien. Sans refaire l'historique de l'origine de ces habitations, je rappelle juste ici que les berbères ont de tout temps creusé des abris dans les roches pour se protéger de la chaleur et stocker leur récolte. C'était également des abris cachés pour échapper aux ennemis et se défendre. pour l'avoir testé, je vous garantis que l'effet "climatisation" est absolument remarquable. Nous avons voyagé ici sous 45° de chaleur à l'extérieur et avons été hébergés sous troglodytes à moins de 25°. La couverture était pratiquement envisagée ! Depuis beaucoup de zones à troglodytes ont évolué vers le tourisme, et ont ainsi pu être rénovées. Je ne sais pas si c'est bien ou mal, mais on en a profité! Voici quelques photographies.

The troglodytes are very present in southern Tunisia. Without going over the history of the origin of these dwellings, I just remind you here that the Berbers have always dug shelters in the rocks to protect themselves from the heat and store their harvest. They were also hidden shelters to escape the enemies and defend themselves. For having tested it, I guarantee you that the "air conditioning" effect is absolutely incredible. We traveled here under 45° of heat outside and were accommodated under troglodytes less than 25°. The cover was practically considered! Since many troglodyte areas have evolved towards tourism, and have thus been able to be renovated. I don’t know if it’s good or bad, but we took advantage of it! Here are a few photos.

🇫🇷 La route reprend sous la chaleur et nous trouvons un peu plus loin, Ksour Chenini. C'est une construction située à flans de montagne surplombant toute la région. Impressionnant, ce vieux grenier collectif contient des centaines de cavités complétées par des constructions irrégulières de pierre. L'ensemble construit sur plusieurs périodes donne une superbe carte postale pour la photographie ! En voici quelques unes.

🇫🇷 Plus au sud encore le sable remplace la roche et les dunes dessinent désormais le paysage. Le Sahara s'installe à partir d'ici. Désormais il n'y a que du sable à perte de vue. Du sable et parfois une oasis. C'est le cas à Ksar Ghilane. Une oasis perdue dans le grand erg du sud Tunisien autour duquel les romains ont implanté une zone de contrôle. Ici le tourisme a pris le pas sur l'ensemble de la zone. Les méharées se préparent pour passer quelques jours dans le désert, les 4x4 font une pause avant de repartir, l'oasis est exploitée... C'est triste de trouver une pancarte coca-cola à quelques mètres d'un oasis aussi beau, mais que faire ?!! Les quelques kilomètres séparant l'oasis du fort se font assez rapidement et permettent de s'évader un peu et s'imaginer à l'aventure en plein désert. Mais fini de rêver, l'hotel n'est qu'à 5kms derrière et un bon tajin nous attend! Quelques photos également.

The few kilometers separating the oasis from the fort are done quite quickly and allow to escape a little and imagine oneself to adventure in the middle of the desert.
