Traveling To Beautiful Milan, Italy! 🇮🇹

I visited Milan, Italy for the first time due to a business trip.

Milan is a beautiful city in the north of Italy, mostly known for their fashion, the dome, milanese risotto, and football club AC Milan.

It was my first time in Milan and although me and @thehipsterguru only visited for a short time, we quickly picked up the atmosphere of the city.

The people seem to be quite laid back and friendly, and very fashionable compared to Germany (especially the men).
The city itself is beautiful, with a rich history and culture, and monuments around every corner.
Another thing that's also great in Milan is the food - but Mr. Gourmet will create another post about that!

The main attraction in Milan is of course the famous dome.

The "Duomo di Milano" is a Gothic cathedral that was built in 1386 and took almost 600 years to complete! It is the largest church in Italy, and the 3rd largest in the world.
The beautiful cathedral is decorated with marble from the outside, and the intricate designs on the walls are simply incredible. It is mind-blowing to imagine how all of these details were carved by hand!
You can look at the dome for several minutes and still always find new details when you take a closer look.

It's truly a masterpiece of architecture!

Right next to the dome is the world's oldest shopping mall, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II.

The Galleria was built between 1865 and 1877 and represents the world's oldest shopping center - maybe not in the modern sense of the word, but it has always been the home for luxury shops selling exclusive, high-quality goods.
The key element of this architectural masterpiece is the glass and iron roof and the two glass-vaulted arcades.

The roof, the walls, even the floor - everything is decorated so beautifully with geometric patterns and artistic paintings, so you never know where to look!

Both monuments are even more beautiful at night, when surrounded by lights!

Milan is so rich in culture that you just stumble upon historic buildings and sights everywhere in the city.

After we had done some sight-seeing around the dome and finished our business meetings, it had gone dark so we went on to explore the city a little bit.

When walking around the city center in the evening, we stumbled across this beautiful building and fountain at one of the many roundabouts.

Although I can't tell you which purpose this building serves, it surely looked absolutely beautiful!
Things like these are what make a city so unique and interesting - stunning locations and so much historic background on every corner of Milan!
