I never really knew what the word meant but all I knew back then was that I wanted to have lots of friends which I never did. This made me foster the thought of not being good enough. I felt like if maybe I was good looking I would have had a lot of friends, but as I grew older my philosophy took another shape. I became indifferent about making new friends that I repeatedly said to myself "who even thinks like that?"
It can be really traumatic trying to seek approval from the wrong places (this is prevalent amongst youths). I found myself perching around people just to develop the sense of belonging to a particular peer group. Nonetheless, my search for friendship just never died.
I never understood until recently that two hands are better than one. It is impossible to exist a lone pair. We were made to commune with one another and by partnering achieving great feats becomes easily attainable. I discovered that surrounding ourselves with like-minded and determined people is what we need to form an influential community.
Friends are like solid pillars they bear you up both in time of despair and merry. Sometimes they prevent the wind of life's frustration from reaching.
“...Friendship is a ladder we must all climb to greatness. It is the major building block of every relationship."
Building solid long-lasting relationships is worthwhile. If I had known that, to make a friend I must first make a friend out of myself, early enough I wouldn't have found it difficult making friends.
Now, I can beat my chest and say "I have found real friends" and you can too, don’t give up searching. So I declare, I am blessed with valuable relationships.
To the young man and woman out there who feels he can achieve much all by himself, you did not make yourself. We were made in communities.
"Good friends adds quality to our daily living. They give us reasons to keep moving amidst the storm of life."
