Hello everyone. I bring you greetings in the name of the Lord. Welcome to my blog and as usual, we will be looking at yet another interesting topic titled My brother's keeper.
I will like to acknowledge the entire leaders of the great church on the blockchain 
Romans 14:15-16
But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died. Let not then your good be evil spoken of:
I will put it to us that we ensure that we always reach out for each other as well as make impact by touching lives in the little way we can. This will make us our brother's keeper. Before I proceed, I will like us to check for what the word brother stands for.
A brother.
A brother is the son of one's parent. A male having at least one parent in common with another(this could be your brother, half-brother or a step brother).
Now in the light of the above definition, one can say that we all are brothers (not in term of a gender). Guess who our parent is???? CHRIST
Let me break it down, we all are joint heirs with Christ and in this sense, we see ourselves as brothers and not strangers. Irrespective of the culture, background or nation, it is expedient that we see ourselves as brothers.
Qualities of a good brother.
I am going to pick up some characteristics from the above scriptural verses.
- A good brother is a true friend. Just like the popular saying; A friend in need, is a friend indeed. A brother(not gender based) is someone who will always show up in time of need and give his maximum support.
- A good brother is someone who knows your flaw and yet stands by you.
He is not a friend because he is smarter than you are, but rather, he choose to love you unconditionally despite your imperfections. We learn this through the nature God carries, who because of the love he has for humanity, sends to us his only begotten son.
A good brother is a keeper of secrets.
Like I said earlier, he knows your flaws. He knows your weakness but will not for once use it to get back at you even when your weakness is obviously expressed. He rather shields you from not allowing your weakness and short comings obvious.
I could talk more about some other characteristics, but I will stop here. I know you've gotten one or two things of who a real brother is. However, in order for you to be an effective keeper of the brethren, You need to walk in Love. Love has to do with this statement of being our brother's keeper because even when we tend to be gifted spiritually, without love, it's all effort in futility.
We shall explore what love is all about in reference to how we can be our brother's keeper in my next post.
