I'm going to write about a cafe today, so I could have entered this into either the drinks or dessert contest hosted by Tasteem. Both the coffee and desserts are very good, it was quite a tough choice, but in the end I decided on the dessert one as my wide said their desserts are just that notch better than the coffee.

THE DECOR

This is Coffee Yeh, a rather quaint and quirky cafe. I say this because the decor inside looks as though it's evolved over time and the owner have collected bric and brac creating a unique atmosphere. There's a mix match of seating. At the inside area, there's some sixties feel two seater and coffee table opposite the counter were the barista worked. It looks the owner likes Paris, as there was a big poster of the Eiffle Tower on one side of the wall.

There's another part of the seating around which is like a conservatory, that's on the right hand side of the counter. It's great if you want to sit inside the air con and watch the world go by outside.

THE COFFEE

The guys here take their coffee very seriously. These bottles you see on the wall are jars of coffee beans. Apparently, bottles keep the aroma much better. I don't know anything about coffe, but noticed most of the jars contained different variety of beans. You can either buy the beans in jars or paper packs. Some of the jars are opened, and if you know your coffee, you can specify that particular bean and they'll make you a freshly ground cup of coffee.

THE DESSERT

Now to the star. Strawberries are in season now in Taiwan and we're starting to see quite a lot of fresh strawberries, and strawberry desserts around town. This is a sesaonal limited dessert, gotta try it. It was like soft mouse sponge with strawberries left right and center. The sponge was very soft, the the creamy mousse completed the fresh strawberry very well.

The second dessert was also a house speciality, the mille crepes. I'm told they've become very popular in recent years. This is the first time I've had them. I thought with so many layers of crepes, it would be very stodgy. Oddly enough, it wasn't, and the whole stack was very light. This was a caramel flavour and they had a very thin spread of caramel between each layer, and whey you bite into it, the flavour was just right.

In my cover photo, you'll see a third dessert. A strawberry flaour mille crepe. Basically a combination of the first two dessert. As usual, my wife was all over these desserts and I was lucky I managed to get a few mouthfuls! It was definetely a right call to post this as a dessert post and not coffee post.
