In addition to the tendency to lag behind that aging people tend to have, the rate at which aging people are eschewing technology seems to be rapidly increasing, too. So, it isn't just that people are falling behind, but they are also falling behind at an accelerated pace.

I think it's most telling in the way you described your parents, each only doing the one, bare minimum thing, possibly accidentally. Hold outs are the damned proud...
