The more I've been thinking about it the more I think the guild idea I kicked around below can work. I'm not really a numbers guy so I'd like feedback regarding guild fees and getting the tokenomics right, so bare with me...
Recapping below:
We host a Splinterlands tournament to gauge interest in a for profit guild. If enough interest manifests we Open it to diamond league or higher and charge 10k DEC for an entry fee, which earns X guild coin. Each month when dues of 5k DEC are paid, members earn a chance to win more. Contributions of 10k automatically earn another chance and one more chance is earned for every 10k DEC donation.
DEC left over from upgrades goes into some kind of earning account or LP, which backs the value of guild coins. Periodically (probably weekly or bi monthly) a percentage of profits that period (season) are spent on prizes for guild MVPS as well as a few smaller participation prizes.
Guild coins can be "burned" for a multiplier increase for prizes. Burned coins go into a null account that pays interest (Like the 3Speak SIP), and proceeds are farmed and compounded to further back the guild coin value.
Unclaimed prizes go into a "honey pot", which is essentially a jack pot. All members in good standing get one free chance to win. Additional chances can be bought with a "burn". Honey pots that go unclaimed for X time get sold back to the market and proceeds go into whatever further strengthens the guild coin. I think this should be quarterly to help ensure unclaimed prizes have time to increase in value before being recycled.
So as of now I think membership alone in this guild would pay dividends, which would increase over time indefinitely in addition to booster prizes along the way. I feel like there's enough here to make being in such a guild very attractive, and I don't know if anyone has really looked at the concept of being guild member as a part time job that actually pays a wage, but I feel like the tools exist to set it up and watch it earn.
I don't know man... is there anything here to work with?
EDIT to add: Full Disclosure. I think I just want to run a guild named PorkSwords and Sorcery and maybe we can make that happen together, lol.
Final Edit (?): My job is taking less time these days, since things are picking back up and we've hired extra hands, so I should have considerably more free time going forward, and possibly a need to find some supplemental income... so I guess if we can run the numbers and this seems profitable I'd be tickled to earn legit income from Splinterlands.
