Hey guys! Wow! I thought you were saving the big ones for anniversary episodes! How the hell did you talk @yabapmatt into an appearance? Are you in danger, bro? Blink twice if you need help.
Great show guys! You brought up some really interesting stuff I'm looking forward to digging into.
For starters, I want to touch on the idea yaba mentioned about having two separate level progressions. One of the things that disappointed me about Splinterlands when I first got into it was the fact that playing cards doesn't earn experience for them. I understood why the combine to advance method was used, but I really like the idea of a card earning something for it's part in a victory. I think I would be really excited to see some kind of hybrid progression method that earns to a cap by playing, and could be combined to raise that cap.
Having said that, I also think I would hate having unused cards in my collection I couldn't find a way to level up because they just aren't useful enough to play as often as necessary to advance. Damned if you do, and damned if you don't, I guess. Then, again, if the experience follows the card so I could advance it through rental play...
Quick questions for @yabapmatt
How do you feel about character builders, and how do you think they will work in a blockchain/defi environment? Can you foresee a way that kind of dynamic could be added, or incorporated into the Splinterlands environment?
Finally, I'm not trying to climb up on your nuts or anything, but I got tingly when you started talking about DEC/asset backed stability. I saw @mattclarke getting excited, too. If memory serves he and I firmly hold the position that this isn't just a game. It's a full blown web 3.0 experience and it's just getting started. I believe we're seeing things develop here that will have, or at least reflect, very far reaching innovations that will have incredibly immense impacts on the world going forward. I am in full agreement with you that asset backed stable coins have a very important role to play going forward.
Anyway, it's always good to see yaba on the town halls, but it was really nice to see him here, hanging with the guys. I know it comes up here a lot, but it really means a lot to the community to see the guys running this incredibly huge project come sit down at the folding card table for the raw experience. I wouldn't want anyone else running this thing.
Oh, and one more thing @bobaphet. I really liked the battle for the closing credits. I'm of the opinion you should end every episode with the challenge of the day and a cool tune to back it. Just a thought. Also, I gotta fuck off now or I'll get stuck in a loop and just ramble on. DRAMATIC EXIT (mist, smoke, fog, or ethereal particalation).
