This is a little long winded, but it's a perfect example that dropped at the right time.

My s/o wants to "be involved" in crypto in that she wants to periodically give me money to put somewhere for her, while simultaneously not wanting to hear about any of it. That's ok(ish) for BTC and ETH and the like, although I don't really see the point in having me disperse it all over if she isn't going to be able to retrieve it if something happens to me, but that's beside the point, which is at some point it's too much to keep up with since I'm still learning about a lot of this stuff myself and don't want to run tests with others resources.

I stumbled across Splinterlands pretty early and my assets have continually grown in value, even during bull markets, but she's never taken it seriously as an investment or even a valid form of entertainment. This is a key example of that mentality at work. While she wouldn't argue that watching reruns of Friends is a more productive use of time than playing a game that pays me when I win, but she doesn't acknowledge it as equal, while I think the engagement alone adds a validity that watching tv doesn't. Toss pennies from heaven on top and it's just a no brainer to me,... but I digress.

So yesterday it dawned on me that if she invests in Splinterlands I can manage her assets along with mine and her money will be, not only safer, but in a position to earn for her if she ever decides to take an interest. Getting to the point, a year ago if I had asked her to let me divert a few hundred $$ into cards for me to play with, she would have murdered me with a glare. Last night she turned me loose with almost $1000. She's finally beginning to realize that just because all this crypto, blockchain, defi, isn't dropping millions on me faster than I can gather it there is something to it. She doesn't really have a clue what's coming but she's beginning to open up to the idea that I do.
