'2020... The year The Shit Got Real'... Here we all are... Quarantined in our houses. I don't really mind, as long as I have my top 3 things with me during this time.
The Top 3 contest is a monthly contest that asks you to make a top 3 of things on various topics. This month's topic is 'Lockdown Essentials'. I guess we all have them.
As usual, I postponed writing my entry until the last minute. Now, I'm really running out of time and even though I don't really feel like writing, I don't want to miss out on the contest. So, don't expect a masterpiece, 馃ぃ
My laptop and internet connection are the things that make sure that my world is still a lot bigger than just my bedroom. Spending my time on Steem (now Hive) and Discord and playing @splinterlands I managed to stay sane 谩nd entertained.
After more than a year, I've also started using my personal Facebook account again. It allows me to stay up-to-date about what's going on with my close friends, and stay connected.
I really wouldn't know what to do without that laptop, and especially the internet connection.
I've only just started my garden for this year. The weather has been awesome these last two weeks, and it's a pleasure to be outside. If it weren't for the garden (and of course the chicken that live in it), I would probably never set a foot outdoors.
Being able to go to the garden and take care of things that need to be done, or just enjoy looking at the freshly sprouted seeds is a great way to take my mind off things. In the garden, it's all about enjoying and relaxing. When I'm there, the world outside might just as well not even exist.
I suck at being alone. I can not even imagine what it must be like to be single, without pets, and to have to live in quarantine for weeks. I would go crazy.
During the day, my 3 cat-babies keep me company. They spend their day sleeping on the bed next to me. Sleep, eat, cuddle, repeat... That's their routine. I wouldn't want it any other way.
My girlfriend still has to go to work, unfortunately. Every day, I'm looking forward to the moment she comes home. Her and the kitties are definitely more essential than anything else. They can ground me whenever I freak out again after seeing/reading what is going on in the world, or when I start to overthink everything.
I really don't think I would come out of this quarantine as a sane person if it would just be me, myself and I.
These were my top 3 lockdown essentials. There are a million more essentials - what can I say, I'm pretty spoiled 馃槀 - but the judges did not allow me to pick more than 3 馃槈.
Keep an eye out for the dPoll that will decide the winner of the contest and make sure you cast your votes!!
Don't forget to follow @yourtop3, so you can join in on the fun.
