Ash and misty being on each others' tails for half the episode - making sarcastic remarks...arguing their hearts out on seemingly worthless stuff - these used to be one of the most enjoyable perks of the Pokemon OS (original series). As seasons passed by, the story writing got more complex (and better in most cases, don't get me wrong). But I still miss to goofy fun moments the initial seasons. The original trio of Ash Misty and Brock will always have a special place in my heart. (Even though admittedly I think the Kalos gang is better).
I started watching "Pokemon : Aim to be a Pokemon Master" today - The final 11 episodes of the journey of Ash Ketchum. These are going to be a very emotional final few episodes for us 90s kids who grew up with pokemon. We have all dreaded the day Ash would leave the Anime. We knew it was coming, but we were never ready for it.
The first couple of episodes were promising to say the least. We don't really expect the writers to deliver too much blockbuster level stuff. I mean what can you really do blockbuster worthy in just 11 episodes? Not much. 11 episodes are just not enough for that.
What 11 episodes is enough for is a proper, proper goodbye and a nostalgic buildup. And I think that's the direction the readers have chosen - give us one final glimpse of our childhood before saying goodbye.
The first episode was significant for a couple of things. One was obviously the return of Latias. Theory is that, this is the same Latias from movie 5. There is no official confirmation on this, but that would make a really nice story. Ash bonded really well with that Latias and a very favourite fan demand was for Ash to catch the Latias. We'll have to wait and see. But the more important aspect to me personally was to see Ash using his older pokemons on his roster again and commanding them in battles. It was particularly great to see sceptile in action again. But the biggest door this opens is, maybe...just maybe we get to see Ash-Greninja return in battle again....?
Episode 2 was a big reveal with Misty returning! And for a good part of the 20 minutes we got back the OS bickering and it was GOOD! It was nostalgia served right out of nowhere and to top it all off, Misty decided to travel with Ash again for a while!
You do know what's left for the writers to do next episode, right?
