So after everything running fine for the last week. The team has been able to finally do some needed back-end rewrites and design work.
We had a game plan and things are moving along nicely.
I woke up to the Discord server blowing up!!!!
The game was down!!!
WTF!!!
I logged in and discovered someone had accessed our AWS S3 Static/Javascript bucket and deleted everything.
I don't want to get into who/how at this point. However I will write an article about it later on.
So I created a new company AWS account and went about the work of rebuilding the S3. Luckily everything upto the point of the Hive migration was in one location.
So I could build a functioning game quickly.
However the changes since then are kind of spread out across multiple developer workstations.
This is a failure on our part as these should be looked at weekly and put into our master back-ups. It was complacency on our part and it hurt the players. So for this I apologize.
Things should be back up and running. We are combing through and looking for any changes we had added that are missing. This only impacted front-end UI things.
All back-end code changes are fine and being upgraded.
The one good thing coming out of this, we are pushing up Artwork back towards the top of the list and will be running an event, where players can get skins for their items (including the old epic skins).
We are going to try and roll this out ASAP!!! (I hope for in the next 24 hours).
We will put up an in-game message, HIVE post & discord post about it.
