This is one of the first poems I shared with anyone or even posted. It’s about comparison and how it has to be stripped for a person to truly find who he is…or at least who he wants to be.

This is back in 2018. I had been sober about 3 months and poetry was one of the first things I found that was able to console my chaotic mind at night well enough at least to fall asleep. It was such an emotional start to a beautiful journey filled with long nights of reflection and tears. I would end up relapsing a few times after this, but I managed to get back at it on Dec. 13 2019 and have been clean since. I’m so glad I didn’t give up.
