Birds that are unwell or dying will try to find a secluded spot in which to recover or to die. They rarely die on the wing which is why we don’t see dead birds in large numbers. They go to ground and if they die, they will be costumed fairly quickly by all the forces of nature. We currently have an old wallaby eking out its final days but it is very unlikely to die in our garden. Like a bird, when the time comes, it will seek a quiet and protected spot and cease to be. Hopefully in peace before the predators turn up.
