Yes indeed we humans seem to have this tendency to like to like the "cute" I find it is the same with babies many want babies "as babies" but as they grow up for many parents their children became a pain lol and require even more work, lol I have heard many parents tell their children they were "cuter" as a baby haha. So it's basically the same with animals but instead people think it's ok to just throw them out.
