Apple is the most important fruit crop or cash crop of the hill state and constitutes about 49 per cent of the total area
Under fruits crop about 85 per cent of the total fruit production says the latest , Economics survey of the state. The apple fruit having in economy of around 3500 crore, is grown mainly in the district of shimla, kinar, kullu ,mandi , chamra etc.

The most awaited apple season in the Hill state of Himachal Pradesh has begun with the first lot of around 10 laks cartons reaching various markets in the country.
The season matures around second week
Of August and is at it's peak by the end of this month's when the fruit starts comming from the middle and upper reaches of the state from beyond the hills of 5000 feet and above.
