Hello dear friends, I will never stop thanking you for the support you always give me in my posts, which always stimulates me to create new content to share with you. But actually, in these days I have rested a lot because as you well understood, my job keeps me very busy. Therefore, I went to visit some relatives in a city in Italy called Carpi, located in the province of Modena.
I spent two days in this beautiful city in Emilia Romagna, and on the first day I wanted to discover the historic center of Carpi by having a good aperitif in the many bars located right in the heart of the old town.
I immediately realized that Carpi is a dynamic and lively city with a rich cultural life and a great variety of events throughout the year. But above all, Carpi can be an excellent base for exploring the region with the most famous historical cities like Modena and Bologna, which are located a short distance away by car or train. Moreover, Carpi is surrounded by splendid natural landscapes including the famous Modena hills and the Apennine mountains.
As you can see from the photos I took, the historic center of Carpi is, in my opinion, one of the most precious treasures of the city, and I probably would never have expected to find this in such a small town. From my photos, you can see that the historic center revolves around this fortress, which is the Castle of the Pio family, built in the 13th century, but which has been expanded and undergone numerous modifications over time to become a residential palace.
Of course, around this castle there is the medieval village with its narrow and winding streets and these squares and nearby is also the famous church of Santa Maria in Castello which I visited because there was a religious function and I didn't want to disturb the faithful who were engaged in it.
In this square, which you can see photographed here, there is a weekly market that takes place every Friday morning and of course offers fresh and typical products of the area. It was really a shame not to have been present during this event because I could have shown you the various typical products.
Of course, the historic center of Carpi is the ideal place for shopping, as there are numerous boutiques, craft shops, and a wide choice of restaurants, trattorias, and bars where, as I did, you can enjoy a good aperitif and a good glass of local wine.
In summary, I can say that the historic center of Carpi is a magical and charming place where you can immerse yourself in the history and culture of the city, discover the architectural beauties, but also enjoy the authentic atmosphere of everyday life. Furthermore, I was advised to come back, maybe in February, when one of the most important events of the year takes place, the Carnevale di Carpi, which is one of the most historical and famous in the whole Emilia Romagna region.
In the end, I can say with certainty that Carpi is a city to be discovered because discovering this city means immersing oneself in the history and culture of the Emilia Region but also having the opportunity to savor traditional cuisine and local wines. I recommend it to you if you are looking for an authentic and surprising destination, Carpi can be the right place for you, and I hope that in the future you can visit it, being seduced by its beauty. Meanwhile, thank you for reading what I wrote and see you at my next post, wishing you a good day.
