Today I will publish the post that I was supposed to publish yesterday, but last night I fell asleep and didn't get to do it. I'm sharing with you the photos I took in a beautiful village in the province of Grosseto called Scarlino, and I'm sure many of you are not familiar with it. I visited it a few months ago and I never understood why I never made a post about this place, I probably forgot. Anyway, it's very lovely and offers a view just a few kilometers from the Tyrrhenian Sea. It is located in a partly hilly and partly flat area.
Like many of the villages I have visited in Tuscany, this one is beautifully adorned by its residents. It's a clear sign of how people who live here are eager to make these villages even more charming. In fact, as you can see from the first photos, at the entrance of the village, there are pots filled with flowers that add a touch of beauty. The care and love dedicated to these details are evident and contribute to making the atmosphere even more magical and welcoming.
Scarlino is a typical village with medieval charm, with a beautiful historic center characterized by picturesque narrow streets and traditional stone houses, which I have often shown in my posts. And we can't forget about the majestic Castle that overlooks the entire surrounding area, providing a stunning backdrop.
As you can see from the photos I took, Scarlino is quite close to the sea. Unfortunately, on that day, I didn't have the opportunity to reach the nearby Cala Violina, a famous beach with its fine sand. Surely, if I ever pass through that area again, I want to visit this beautiful beach. And of course, I will share the photos here.
When I was in Scarlino, I noticed that the enogastronomic tradition is also very important here because I saw that there are numerous agricultural companies nearby where you can taste the wines produced here, as well as local typical products.
Naturally, as you can see from the photos, only the ruins of the beautiful fortress of Scarlino remain, but it can be visited freely. However, I have to say that I didn't find it in perfect condition. Perhaps it would be appropriate to dedicate a bit more attention and care to these places, which are of great architectural importance.
Anyway, in conclusion, I can say that Scarlino is a charming Tuscan village that combines history, natural beauty, and gastronomy. It is always a place to visit for those who want to experience an authentic Tuscan experience. Moreover, in my opinion, it is strategically located, being a short distance from the splendid city of Grosseto, where you can visit the beautiful Cathedral of San Lorenzo, as well as other places like Castiglione della Pescaia and Follonica.
We can define this place as a mix for both culture and art lovers, where you can visit these beautiful monuments that tell the story of this place, but also for nature and sea enthusiasts because, as I mentioned, it is located just a few kilometers from the beautiful beaches that, in my opinion, are even more beautiful in this part of Tuscany.
Now, the only negative thing, if we want to find one, is that as usual, and as has happened in other villages I follow, many monuments and tourist attractions are not easily accessible or do not offer detailed explanations. For example, this castle in Scarlino can be visited freely, but in the end, you can't fully understand the history of this place and enrich your historical knowledge.
