Today I want to share with you an experience I had yesterday near Venice. For some time a very dear friend of mine had invited me to see this carnival, because she said it was the most beautiful in the whole of Veneto. At first I thought she wanted to take me to Venice, but actually she took me to a hamlet in the municipality of Venice that is near Mestre, and it is called Campalto, a small place but full of surprises.
I must say that I didn't really know what to expect, but when we arrived, I found myself immersed in a magical atmosphere. I couldn't believe that a small community could hold such a beautiful carnival, with so many floats and so many masked figures, but above all there was so much joy.
One of the things that surprised me the most were the first cars and motorbikes that opened the parade. They were Harley-Davidsons, just like the ones we see in American films! And not only that, there was also an American police car, a bit like the ones we see in many films.
I must admit that at first I wondered if I was still in Italy or if I had crossed the ocean and ended up in the United States! But then I realised that it was just an original idea of the carnival participants, who wanted to pay homage to America in a very special way.
In short, it was a very original start to a festival that turned out to be even more spectacular than I had expected.
After the excitement of the first American cars, came small floats built on bicycles, which were really very cute and creative. Then came the majorettes, the true queens of carnival parades, who twirled their colourful batons with grace and skill.
There were also a few bands from neighbouring villages, which brought some music and merriment during the carnival. But the thing that impressed me most were the floats, which paraded with their figures and often represented political figures in a satirical and amusing way. Next to the floats were figures who danced and entertained the audience.
There were not many typical Venetian costumes, but this did not detract from the beauty and creativity of the event. In any case, the important thing was the energy and enthusiasm in every corner of the carnival.
I must admit that during the carnival, I was amazed by the floats. They were really beautiful and impressive, so big and with such attention to detail. I cannot even imagine how much work goes into their preparation, months and months of hard work and constant commitment.
But in the end, all this effort is rewarded by the enthusiasm of the people who participate in the carnival. When you see people applauding and laughing, enjoying themselves and getting excited, you realise that all the work has been done with a great sense of passion and dedication.
I must say that these floats are a real sight for sore eyes and represent the beating heart of the carnival. They are a work of art in motion, enchanting and surprising at the same time.
In short, I can only congratulate those who worked on the preparation of these floats, because their commitment and creativity made the carnival even more special and unforgettable. And if you have never seen a float during a carnival, I advise you to do so as soon as possible, because it is really worth it!
I must confess that although I had seen many carnivals in my life, this one shocked me. Yes, you read that right! I was shocked by the energy that the people participating in the festival transmitted. It was not just about masks and floats, but something deeper and more involving. I felt an emotion that left me speechless.
So, dear friends, if you are around Venice during the carnival period, I recommend you go and see the one in this small community. Sharing experiences is always nice, especially if they are unforgettable moments like this one.
