I have the enormous privilege of living near a region of pristine forest. In fact, the only one that has resisted the advances of the cities here in my region.

The Serra do Japi is a mountain range and a rare remnant of the Atlantic Forest in the interior of the state of São Paulo. It is surrounded by urbanization on all sides, bordering the cities of Jundiaí, Pirapora do Bom Jesus, Cajamar and Cabreúva.

This green paradise is about 1 hour from my house and has been a haven for safe hiking without encountering people in the midst of a pandemic that seems increasingly far from over here in Brazil.

Last Monday, me and christiantatsch@christiantatsch escaped there once again and I took these photos along the 14 kilometer hike through the woods.
These images are my entry today for the #monomad challenge by monochromes@monochromes.

The highlight of the hike was finding a waterfall practically hidden in the middle of the forest, with no citations in trail apps, and returning most of the way without sunlight. An adrenaline rush that is very good to feel :)
