An happy Wednesday to you all!
Yesterday night I started a small oil painting on canvas to study in deep the colors and the tecniques used by ancient famous artists of the past. I started studying in deep the work of RembrandtRembrandt, especially the face of the portraits he painted. At first, I searched on line more info about the palette of colors he used and I'm trying to use the same shades, but as you can understand it's a very long "exercise" for my hands.
As every student of art knows, it's very important to study the ancient artists and their techniques and I use to do every time I can, even if my own style is totally different. I can say I could have an own style starting from all the studies I did on ancient art.
In the following pics you can see the first steps of this study (I'm spending 1-2 hours at day on this exercise) :
I want to focus my attention just on the face and so I used a very small canvas (148 × 210 mm - 5.8 × 8.3 inches).
